
James Outler is one of the Assistant Directors and an Arranger for the Georgia Mass Band. A native of College Park, Georgia, James is a graduate of North Clayton High School, where he marched with The Mighty Marching Eagles under the direction of Mr. Joseph Daise, graduating in 2019.
James is currently a senior Music Education major at Mississippi Valley State University, where he performs with the renowned Mean Green Marching Machine. He served as Head Section Leader of the trombone section, affectionately known as "BoneYard," from 2024 to 2026 and currently serves as the band's primary student arranger.
A proud Georgia Mass Band and Sonic Boom of the South alumnus, James is also a member of Red Dawg Order, Inc., Beta Chapter, Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Delta Pi Chapter, and the Sigma Alpha Pi National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS).
Following graduation, James plans to pursue a career as a band director, inspiring future generations of musicians through his passion for music education, leadership, and arranging.
As an Assistant Director and Arranger for the Georgia Mass Band, he is committed to fostering musical excellence while helping uphold the organization's tradition of performance and leadership.
